Enjoying the success of others.

Unread postby moog5050 » Wed Nov 13, 2019 8:19 am

God has blessed me with some fairly good quality property to hunt here in NY. It’s not Iowa or WI and small acreage but has a fair number of decent NY bucks that pass through. I decided I wanted to share the opportunity with a few friends and hunters I know who don’t have similar grounds and have seen limited success on above average bucks. It turned out great as 3 of the 4 hunters I invited took their biggest bucks ever and the other scored 2 deer in his first year with a recurve. There is more to hunting than just the pursuit of that big buck. For me, this has been a pretty cool season and I have not killed anything noteworthy. Taking a brand new hunter out on opening day this Sat. If he shoots a deer, big buck or not, it will be icing on the cake. It’s been nice to be able to share in the excitement of the successful hunts of others. After that I will be focused more closely on one for my wall. Nothing wrong with that either. Lol

That’s really awesome of you to do. Very unselfish and you gave all of them terrific memories for the rest of their lives.

I enjoyed it as much as they did Dave - truly. One more to go! Fingers crossed for Saturday! That little 30 acre parcel and the bucks have cooperated.

Great Post
Nice property indeed. One of my all time favorite hunting memories is setting my dad up on an opening day buck! It was so awesome, and burned into my memory. I need to try and do more of this, last few years just been trying to up my game, and have not put time into others.

I think it takes a special person to enjoy the success of others if that person is not directly descended from them or closely related to them. I admit I find it hard to root for others as much as I should, but I’m working on it.
