John also hunts really high in the tree. That helps him a bunch. He doesn’t see the deer that smell him. His scent is above the deer he does see.

John was asked in the Podcast interview prior to the Michigan public land challenge what his secrets to success were...( I am paraphrasing but this was the gist) he said the two secrets were scent lok and tethered tree saddles... very convenient that those happen to be his two sponsors
He is undoubtedly an extremely talented and accomplished outdoorsman...but I would take his advice with a large grain of salt

Not to get too off track...but I also believe John has selective memory when he has deer smelling him/busting him. That’s just my opinion

I thought we moved on from this John Eberhart stuff?
Seems Dan and John settled things so I think we can too.

I completely agree, the subject has had more than its fair share in the sun on this site but I think a question regarding scent control will eventually lead to this... I will yield my time to other advice without Eberhart references...

No problem. I just didn’t want this thread to turn into yet another Eberhart bashing thread when referring to scent control.

I can’t wait to kill a rutted up buck and watch my buddy cut off his urine soaked tarsal glands and rub them all over his hunting gear.
His idea of scent control I’m just like hey my man, whatever makes you feel confident

I wonder if I can bottle up some fresh doe milk straight from the utter and spray it on my clothes to attract a tasty late season button buck....

Johns name came up because he’s one of the few left that swears that the products work. There’s going to have to be some acceptance with scent control convos and John. It’s just what’s going to happen. Especially given the general consensus of the members here regarding sc products and theories. .02
