Nice, I can hunt after work every day. I had a fishing trip planned for that weekend but think I am cancelling. Hunting trumps fishing in my book.

I love Michigan north of M55 over to Wisconsin. Like this is my dream place to live, BUT, I often find myself wondering why people would freely choose to travel to hunt deer here over so many other places. For what you're getting, I think our Nonresident tag prices are super inflated. What draws you back every year?

Mainly this

But all my family live there. I was born there (just left when I was a boy)

You are right though, the out of state tag is $$,
Our county produces good deer and there’s a big herd. All things combined it’s worth it.

I do have an urge (and a couple offers) to do KY. Maybe one day.

Wish I could be part of this but just will not get a chance to hunt anything but what is close to home and I have driven and walked over most of it. Still going to try and do first time sits in the places I hunt. Good luck all you guys I will be rooting for everyone to have not only a great week but a great season!

We want you to post and be a part of this - even if your hunt doesn't follow page 1. You have already declared your situation... we definitely want to hear about your hunts / first time sits !! 8-)

October 1st, mostly sunny with 83 degrees in southern Mich, 79 in Northern Mich.

Slight chance of showers the further north you go...

Looks like I will be ground hunting if I make it out the first week... my left shoulder is history. I injured it years ago and was set to have surgical repair, when just days before my procedure my surgeon fell over dead on a local golf course. I took that as an omen and did not reschedule. I think I knew I would pay for it eventually...

The pain keeps me up at night and my left hand and top of the left forearm are numb. I'm hoping to get through deer season if I can tolerate the pain.

No big, I love ground hunting... always have.

Oof. I'd go ahead and get that rescheduled ASAP. You'll be kicking yourself for not doing it as soon as possible when you finally get it done. No point to suffer needlessly.

That would definitely be the smart thing to do... I just can't bear the thought of missing out on deer season. We only have so many...
