The picture posted in the original post of this thread is common milkweed and imo it floats the best. But there are dozens of varieties of milkweed with slight variations found from region to region. Probably the second most easily found type is swamp milkweed which is available in the northern AND southern states. As you can see in the picture the leaves of the swamp milkweed are much narrower and less thick.

The seed pods are also much smaller especially lacking the girth of common milkweed. Consequently, it has less seeds and far less duff than its cousin. But it is very similar in its make-up so if you can't find common milkweed look for swamp milkweed.
