Should be soon. The deadline to apply is early may. Where in MN you looking to bear hunt?

I’ve heard the northwest corner of Minnesota zone you may not need any points to draw. Anyone have any insight?

The boundary waters zone is the only one you’ll draw the first year.
Everything else is 2-4 years.
They do have non-quota areas that aren’t draw but I have no experience with that.

A big portion of the N/W corner of the state is "no quota" you can buy the tags over the counter.

It's no quota for a reason though, isn't it (i.e. low density)?

Its because they want to lower bear numbers in those areas I think... Hard to find good public in those areas, but some private land has good numbers. Lots of outfitters doing real well in the no quota area...

Ah, makes sense. Good for them. I like the idea of doing a MN bear hunt (close to home, cheap resident tags and all), but by the time I spend the money on an outfitter or bait I could make a couple DIY trips to Montana and get some backcountry camping in the deal. I'll probably just live vicariously through you guys for now :)
