Unread postby Dewey » Thu Mar 21, 2019 8:23 am

This is kinda old news already but I just heard about it yesterday. Maybe it was already posted here.

Unbelievable buck! :o

How the heck do you ever go hunting again after killing something like that? What a freak buck. Where do you go from there?

What a freak of nature!

I'd be very happy with one half that size

Ever wonder if bucks like this are social outcasts... Like all the other deer look at them and laugh?
Does be like, "ahh, no. There's somethin' wrong with him."
Bummer of a birthmark, Hal.

No, I think all the others poop in fear the second they see him.

Amazing how an animal of that caliber can stay alive to get that big. Surely a freak of nature but even more unique that it survived to the point where it got that big. Think how many "what if" bucks that are killed each year that hunters unknowingly shoot that perhaps have the potential to reach such gigantic size. This buck shows hunters of what can be possible. When I think of an animal of this caliber, I always refer back to Rompola and think, "what if" the Rompola buck was really real. "What if" a buck could get that large.

It's really neat to realize that this is reputedly the third-highest scoring wild whitetail in existence, and the highest-scoring buck ever taken by a hunter using any weapon.
(The two bigger ones were deadhead/pick-ups.)

And he got it with a bow.
The successful hunter seems like a great, soft-spoken guy.
Nice to see a regular guy end up with it!
(Too bad he's a Flatlander, though... :shifty: , but I guess he can't really help that.) :snooty:

By the way, it had a broken/missing tine.
Nobody knows how long it might have been to add to the score.
Incredible.

That’s just an incredible deer, and I agree with what was said already — even more fantastic that it was a regular Joe that took him, and with a bow!! Can you imagine the feeling of drawing back and sighting in on something like that??

My first thought would be that buck was rubbing and has part of a tree wrapped in his rack. Then as he got closer I would get the worst ever case of buck fever. Just being honest.

A buck like that better show up unexpected so you don’t have much time to think. Just shoot and let the buck fever set in after. If you watched him come from a long ways away it would be almost unbearable. I couldn’t even imagine.

Speechless!!

Couldn’t even imagine keeping it together to put the shot on him with any weapon, especially a bow

What an absolute amazing animal and super cool for the hunter!

That is a nice elk...

Not to be that guy but I’m sure the hunt checks clear too? No planted farm deer right?

No way to know I suppose, but it sounds legit.
And there's just something about pen-raised deer that big that look different; I think this is a true, wild animal.

A game warden checked it out shortly after the kill and everything was legit.
