Blood in Deer pee?
With the snow, and things I have seen in past years ive been noticing deer pee. I have seen a few times that there will be blood mixed with deer pee, logic would tell me that it is because of a doe not being bred, similar to people, and that she will come into cycle again, or something like that. I know for sure that if a buck comes across that he goes crazy, throwing his head around and doing the upper lip curl. Am i correct in what I think this is from?
Also while on the topic of deer pee. I have seen like a blueish green pee sometimes. I believe it to be from a rutting buck, because of the track size as well as other buck sign in the area.
Does anyone put any weight on the deer pee that you find? Im thinking about adding it to my detective list when scouting or picking up on hot sign.

I haven’t inspected deer pee enough to add anything. But, I will start inspecting more now. Thanks for bringing to attention.

Just found this today while tracking a doe to find where she likes to hide. Figured it was that time of the month for her
Never seen the blueish green though

The blue is due to browsing a certain plant, maybe cedars.

Could be related to breeding?
I'm reason they call it hunting and not shooting.

Means that doe is currently in estrus
Never seen it myself but according Mr Nordberg and other biologist they say a doe bleeds some while in estrus

Buckthorn I think. It looks like windshield washer fluid.

Would that be the light green leaves still in the woods while everything is dead? Seems to be a lot of tracks in the areas where that stuff is thick.

I think the light green might be honeysuckle. I googled blue deer pee and a person claimed it was from eating spruce berries. Not many spruce around here but we do have Red Cedar that have a blueish berry. Deer will eat it when times are tough in January.

The sweet nectar of the Juniperus berry, otherwise known as Gin has also been known to have many different effects on humans as well.
