Beast hunting and camping trip
Southernman and myself have talked about setting up a hunting/camping trip for next year. We are planning on doing the hunt around the second breeding period in December or sometime in November at Land Between the Lakes. We have a couple different ideas for dates and how to do it. We thought if we start getting in lined out early it gives anyone who wants to attend plenty of time to plan. Any interest?

Re: Beast hunting and camping trip
I'll take it one step farther...... You can deer hunt, duck or goose hunt and squirrel hunt (if in December) if you choose. Those seasons will be open along with deer, buck or doe.
We are familiar with a lot of areas of LBL, we can give some guidance to you if you are unfamiliar. But to be honest, if you are not familiar with LBL it would be a scout / hunt type of hunt for deer.
We have the capability of making a community hooch with some heat and we can tie in tents, campers, etc to make it easier for anyone that wants to come. We can also camp along the KY / TN line to make hunting either state easy without a long travel to hunting sites.
You'll eat good, have some fun, and hopefully kill something

Sounds great.
What's the weather conditions that time of the year?
Any crotters to be aware of?

Re: Beast hunting and camping trip
Weather should be great and no worries about any critters. I did some research and regardless if you want the KY or tn side of lbl it will be under $300 to get your tags, license, and LBL permit. I think this would be a fun trip to not only hunt but have some great commrodery within the beast group.

How long are we talking? 3 day hunt? Week?
Also, not sure how it works, if you kill your buck in KY early can you still hunt the Tn side?

Re: Beast hunting and camping trip
Kentucky side has better bucks and more mature bucks from what I've heard because of the 1 buck bag limit.
I would choose Kentucky rut.

That's debatable. We really haven't talked about that but I could probably swing 3 - 4 days. Just don't tell my wife I said that
And no, I believe LBL has a 1 buck limit even though it shares 2 states

Re: Beast hunting and camping trip
Sounds like a fun trip. I could probably do something like this. I'm only about an hour or so away from LBL.
