Transition ?

Can a transition line be created with cutting trees and allowing new growth? Would a line be where that growth meets with the hardwoods? When guys mention hunting transitions is this what the are referring to. I've heard a lot of guys mention it in videos. Would the edge of a bedding thicket be a transition line?

A transition is where the woods change. Typically from thick to open.

But any question you could ever think of, and then some more could probably be answered in this thread. IMO the best thread on this site, at least for the area I hunt

Any change in vegetation is a transition line. A hard transition would be woods meeting open field, a soft transition would be pine to oak, or mat6ure to some different age of cut.

When I used to hunt the brush county there really wasn't a lot of terrain, just miles of endless mesquite brush. The best edges were internal fences and roads cut through the thick mesquite cover

I've hunted transitions in pines that were mature pines and a clear distinction to 12-15 yr old pines. Any noticeable difference is worth walking and scouting in my opinion.
