QDMA at it's Best

Unread postby huntinfool14 » Mon Mar 15, 2010 4:37 pm

it all started when i got trail photos of him at age 2 1/2 yrs old, picked up both sheds that winter scoring between 115" to 120" excited to see what he would become, the year of 2008 i got pictures of this buck in velvet and throughout the entire season. i called him the spilt G2 buck. i hunted hard for him and had him on halloween night at 10 yds in a thick red willow patch but it was to thick to get a shot off so i had to let him walk, that winter i found only one of his sheds and a neighbor found the other side, scored him up at 149" at age 3 1/2. now in the season of 2009 i didnt get any pictures of him until the 2nd week in november. and when i got that first picture, my heart stopped beating, he blown into a giant and age 4 1/2. i hunted extremely hard for him passing up nice bucks just to save my tag. coming into late season bow hunting i hunted a bedding area in the morning and had him come by again at 20 yds chasing a doe. but as luck would have it, it again was to thick of brush and couldnt get a shot off. come to find out after spending hours in the field, neighbor on the other side shot him that late season. he never saw that buck or knew about him, just luck was on his side that evening. my neighbor brought the rack over to show us and said it officially green scored 182" and age 4 1/2. i thought he would make booner but not that big. just goes to show that passing up bucks really can make a difference

That is awesome man! Even though you didn't kill him you got sheds and trail cam pics that show a great timeline of this deer's life that you will always have! There is a huge jump from 3.5-4.5  Lots of mass is added that year ;) Awesome, thanks for sharing!

Sweet story and pics 8-) Too bad you didn't get him, but I bet you had alot of fun over the years chasing him. Just imagine how big those bucks you passed waiting for him will be. Hopefully another beast for you to chase.
