Hunt him in the morning or wait for evening

Unread postby beddedbuck » Sat Sep 12, 2015 7:59 pm

Last night we glassed huge one come out to an alphalpha field right where we figured he would. Its opening morning now and do I set up on him this morning where he would have to cross my sent trail right where I would shoot him due to my only access, or do I wait until this evening?

If you feel like it is a sure bet for this afternoon. I would wait too.
I'm reason they call it hunting and not shooting.

If your pattern is in the evening then the evening is when you need to set up on him.
You can fool some of the bucks, all of the time, and fool all of the bucks, some of the time, however you certainly can't fool all of the bucks, all of the time.

Well I went against all the hat I know was right and hunted it this morning. Was just toobexited to wait, obviously regret it now. This was right behind a barn about 200 yards. I didn't see anything close and hopefully got in and out without detection. Will see this afternoon as we have this guy coming out last 4 nights and hour before dark. I have a nice pic of him but don't know how to post pics.

I've never been there in the morning but the farmer who lives there says he has been out there on and off in the mornings for the past month.

For sure wait for the evening, way too easy to mess things up in the morning when you don't know for sure where and when he will be there.

The issue with the morning is if he was there it is likely he was in the field when you pulled in...

Good luck this evening...

Hard to wait but you had the deck stacked pretty well...will be interesting in hearing the results from this evening..

I hope that decision doesn't haunt you, in all likelihood if he was using this bed..he watched you come in and set up. With exceptions, bed hunters go in evenings when you KNOW he's there and set up as quiet as you can. There's no way he smells you, sees you or hears you if you set up correctly, you can't say that often in the early morning hunts. I hope you see him tonight and you close the deal. Good luck.
