Grand Days While Upland Hunting

Unread postby Edcyclopedia » Sun Jan 02, 2011 2:19 pm

I don't see much activity here with the fabulous t-bird or the other upland animals / birds. This is how I cut my teeth in the woods when I was 14... Didn't get serious with deer until mid-twenties! So the special times with the hunting buddies will long live. As time goes on it's a bit harder to get away 5-weekends a year with kids and the other responsibilities!

Nice! But I want to hear more about how you hunt them out of that boat. Do you troll, drift, or row?

Awesome pictures do you hunt them in WI? We camp every year in the Nicolet with a group of about 10 guys for 5 days every fall. We usually go mid october and the weather is beautiful around the Dunbar area in Marinette county. Beautiful country up there and the bird numbers have really been at their peak the past few years. Here are a few pics from this year. I took a lot more but don't want to steal your post! 8-)

The gang! The range of age was anywhere from the oldest guy at 55yrs all the way down to 16.

An afternoon haul of woodcock...we hit the migration right a lot more shells were fired that did not kill anything that day.

Almost one limit before breakfast on day 2 of the trip.

My helicopter was in the shop, so I thought we could try drifting. Not much water though, it was low tide...
