This Week's Wired To Hunt Podcast

Unread postby Kraftd » Sat Aug 01, 2015 8:43 am

Mark had Hank Shaw on this week, it was awesome. He's a Hunter/Fisherman/Forager, they went over a bunch of great cooking tips for venison. Well worth the listen, even though it had no hunting strategy. Hank's food blog is also incredible if you like to try and do some fun creative stuff with your kills and foraged food.

Good show. There was a lot of info there. I'm definitely going to be relistening to it. It made me want to try some new things with venison. I'm going to save my next heart. Not sure about the doe head though.

Honest food.

Thats a nice concept. Its a funny thing about anti hunters sometimes. I always think to myself, are you a vegan? I get it if your against killing animals, I can get my head around that. If you are anti hunting though and still eat meat I kind of think your an idiot.

Will do. I will probably do his kickstater for his venison book. I've got 4 picky kids, so I can't get too crazy with recipes, but I can definitely improve on the basics.

Joboswel, I actually got to test one of the recipes in the new cookbook for him. He was looking for testers through Facebook and I volunteered. Based on that one, I'm very excited too.

If you're a facebook person, he has a private group that is another one of the good internet places, kind of like the Beast. Lots of people sharing great food and recipes all with foraged/hunted/caught/grown food. It has upped my game cooking quite a bit .

This was my version of steak and eggs yesterday morning with venison, a poached egg and some veggies from our CSA (yard isn't big enough and too shady for any kind of real garden)!
