The Amish are buying everything....

Unread postby tcop7 » Sun Dec 28, 2014 5:16 am

Ever since I have started deer hunting I have always dreamed of owning my own land close to my hometown to hunt/fish/live on. This past year I have realized that dream will likely never happen....not around my hometown at least... There have been Amish living 5 or so miles from my hometown for years and they are starting to move this way buying everything that goes up for sale. Unfortunately they have a lot more money then everyone around here so they are buying the land for ridiculous amounts of money so that nobody else can get it. I'm talking like 10 to 12 grand an acre. It's just depressing to think about. Looks like I'm gonna be in a different state or a different part of Ohio after college. Anybody else ever experienced a situation like this? At the rate they are buying land here they will own most of it within 10 to 15 years.

I have come to realize I will probably never own any land in my life time unless I win the big lottery. Why couldn't I been born in the 50's when my grandfather purchased over 500 acres of farmland for $5000? :violin:

The Amish by me are doing the same thing. They have the cash so I guess that's the way it goes.

Why is the word A-mish not showing up on the screen? Is that a naughty word or something?

Good question, I don't know why the sensor won't allow it. I use Mennonite and have no issues. :?

They are infiltrating some of the areas I hunt. I heard from a fairly reliable source that if a Bishop in an area is lenient others move into that area. I mean they have bobcats and a lot of other fuel powered stuff in some territories. I don't understand the concept of driving a buggy to get to an area to run a bobcat? I see some of the houses have wind operated compressors to operate electric generators in a house? If you see a house with a lot of 1000 gallon LP looking tanks and a tall wind vain that is what they are doing. :?

It got flagged when some unruly members were using it as insults and flaming/harassing another member to the point of total disrupt on our forum. Instead of acting like adults they were being extremely childish, earning the title "The Drama Club". Thus we had to flag the word and remove several smilie face icons.

The issue has been fixed on the Amish word.

Is this a bad thing? The Amish are better than most when it comes to giving permission to hunt.

YMMV

They don't waste money on gasoline, car payments/repairs, insurance, electricity, cable/satellite tv, smart phones and all of the extra electronic goodies we all can't live without. Figure out how much you could save a year!

Now that I think of it I just might go Amish!!
