I'm going out on a limb

Unread postby magicman54494 » Mon Dec 06, 2010 1:58 am

OK, the truck is warming up right now and I'm heading out to track one down. My goal is a legal buck. The area I'm hunting holds only a slim chance for a big one and the season is getting late. I'm going to make a bold prediction. I'M GOING TO KILL ONE TODAY! NO MORE GOOFING AROUND! Will I succeed?
answer
1. Yes, he will bring down the beast!
2. No, he will be eating only his words tonight.
3. The Vikings have a better chance to succeed.
4. He won't make it any further than the nearest bar.
5. They will surely find him froze to death in some swamp.
6. Shave that stupid beard already.
7. The deer all laugh when they see him coming.
8. How come it's 7:57 and he hasn't left yet?

Track down the beast. Thats the beauty of tracking, you can leave a little late and still get in the action. It's fun when you go to the deer instead of the deer coming to you.
A buck will see you three times, and hear you twice, but he's only gonna smell you once.

OK, here's the details. I found a good track and took him for a long way. I found an empty bed with very fresh tracks going away. I took a few more steps and he blew out of another bed about 60 yds away. I tried my best to draw a bead on him but thru the thick stuff the shot just never presented itself. I got a pretty good look at the rack. He was nice but I doubt he would score much more than 115. I still wanted to get him but such is life I guess. I have to admit I'm bummed out about it. I never saw him again but did find one place where he bedded for a bit. Tomorrow is another day so I'll try again. I guess I'll have to vote for "The Vikings have a better chance"

I had to vote "not making it past the first bar" considering your other posts checking station/tavern comment. That Windsor is calling you name Mister...

That's the beauty of tracking. Wait a day then go back out and do a loop in there and pick-up his track again....it ain't over til it's over (or the buck's dead!).

Keep the faith brother!
