Whats your predator hunting weapon of choice?

I prefer the families ruger mini 14 chambered in .223 flat shooting, accurate rifle at long range. I have a .270 as well which would do the trick but the mini is first choice. This year I have permission to coyote hunt on a few farms in shotgun only areas. Was wondering the effectiveness of buckshot if anyone has used it? We have enough farmers in on coyote eradication that using the mini wouldn't be an issue but the fines from a dnr official would be.

Bowtech Destroyer 350 Never shot a coyote with buckshot so i coulnd't help you on that one

I bought a Stag Arms 4L AR-15 .223 just for coyotes and Im looking forward to using it this winter. #4 buck is devestating on coyotes.

I was under the understanding that the WDNR allows rifles anywhere even in shotgun deer zones for Coyotes, been like that as far back as I can remember.... However, some municipalities outlawed the discharge of rifles when the WDNR expanded the rifle zone for deer which could make it illegal to discharge ( police wise )
I sometimes get together with friends and do coyote drives in Waukesha, which happens to be one of the few municipalities that did outlaw rifles when they expanded to there area for deer. We use shotguns loaded with buck shot and do quite well.

Thats what I thought as well, rifles are allowed for coyotes in shotgun zones.

I just assumed when reading the deer regs and it said "no centerfire rifles" it was across the board not just for deer hunting. thanks-and if you need any extra people in the SE wi area for a coyote drives, or deer drives in the holiday hunt, let me know I will be around the waukesha area and available for a month or so starting the week of christmas. good luck all!

i use an .17 hmr and it works great...but if i had my choice id like a .223 or a .22-250
