How did I do?

Unread postby OH nontypical » Fri Jan 03, 2014 12:42 pm

Ok Beasts, marked what I think would be good places to look for beds in this 250 acre hunting area. Let me know how I did. Appreciate your thoughts. No need to sugar coat if Im way off. OHNT

You did ok... I noticed some markings were in spots that are white... Typically that means there are no trees there. That would make me wonder if its a crop field or what kind of cover is there.
As far as your locations on the points you look a little to high in elevation. They don't bed at the top of the hill, they bed down little lower.

Dan. I think I counted wrong on the elevation, meant to get to the bottom of the top third of the elevations........ also got so caught up in elevation I didn't even notice the clearings I marked. Thanks for the feedback!

Its not really a matter of "counting" elevation lines... It an vary. The map you posted don't show it well, but usually when you start going down the hill there is a spot where the elevation starts to drop off more rapidly. Thats right where the thermal tunnel will be-and bedding.

Got it.
Do you find that deer love to travel the first shelf or flat down on a hill or mountain??

Little lower, right where it drops off.

The one to the east looks more like a funnel...

But good.
