Did some scouting today on MFL property. I found most of the good trails and fresh sign were in the conifers. Followed a few trails and found a dead yearling tore up good from the predators. I found some big rubs too in the mixed hard woods near a thick brushy hillside. No sheds though. The snow is still about a foot deep on most of the land, except for south facing hillsides are pretty bare. Good time today.

Re: Scouting on MFL land 4-05-13
Thanks. I also forgot to mention where I found those rubs today is close to where I found two buck beds on that same ridge last November. The beds have been vacated all winter after looking at them today. This is an area where I been 'searching for rumors' for awhile now. Im convinced there is a big buck somewhere on that land. There are more big rubs I haven't took pics of yet on the other side of that property. Hopefully he is still alive. I also found two wood ticks on me since I been home too.

I can't believe the wood ticks already.

I think conifer stands are my favorite places to hunt. Seems like so many animals relate to them and they make incredible scenery.
