Kansas vacation is finally here!!

Unread postby SHoff10 » Fri Nov 02, 2012 2:23 am

In 3 hours I will be taking off for Northeastern Kansas for 15 days!! I have never hunted more than 4 straight days so I am excited beyond belief. I will be scouting the first 3-5 days but will be ready to set up and hunt at any point. We have access to thousands of walk-in-hunting acres as well as 2,000 private.

I'll try to keep everyone posted on the action out there is going.

Has anyone heard of any reports from Kansas? Any rut updates?

We have a couple 160+ bucks on trail cam recently and an 8 point that I swear has a 25" spread.

Good luck everybody!!

You are living the Dream in my book. I would LOVE to hunt Kansas someday in the rut with a bow. I think Kansas doesnt get the attention it deserves.

Good luck!

I would like to see your hands around that 25" 8 pointer! ;)

I heard EHD had it Kansas but I know that it isn't even close to as bad as it is here in Southern Michigan.

Here are two pics of the 8 point I was talking about. How wide do you think this deer is? What do you think he would score?

The dates are wrong on these pictures by the way.

Thanks for the "good lucks" guys....I have never shot a deer over 125" so we will see what happens.

Any guesses to what the above 8 pt scores? Id definitely shoot him no matter what but I am curious to what the expert beasts think??

I think having a "beast score" in the back of your mind when he shows up at 20yds will not be good for your nerves. :? Just shoot him and tell us the score. 8-)

Heading to KS in a few weeks for some spring scouting. We will be in N central KS. Going to try and gain access on private for the rut, but will likely be hunting WIHA.

Are the heavy wooded creek beds and rivers over hunted? They look cherry on GE. But then again, doesn't every hunter think that and likewise set up on a funnel, or where 2 rivers meet?

Curious whether anyone has hunted some of the "open" / "light brush" / "sparsely wooded" draws in the middle of a prairie or coming off a bluff feeding into a river?
