Some turkey photos to get you fired up for the season

Unread postby Mountain Man » Sat Apr 07, 2012 10:53 am

Just sharing some pics of some turkeys from the other day. There was 1 dominant tom, 2 subordinate toms and at least 4 hens. The big guy was strutting his stuff. I watched him for several minutes before moving on. I can’t hunt this area but it was a cool show to watch and it was just off a major road in the suburbs close to where I live.

Flocks are starting to separate here. Took out my new stoger to pattern a new choke(wasnt overly impressed with the factory xtra full) and right where I was going to shoot, 50 yards up the road a big gobbler ran out in front of me at 2:30 today.

I am seeing birds EVERYWHERE. If I dont kill two again this spring it will be due to lack of time and not lack of turkeys. Theres more and more every year here it seems. Whoever wins the hunt to come here should be able to kill a turkey whatever year they decide to come on out.

What I also forgot about was because I am considered north central our stocked trout season doesnt start till next saturday. It will be in as well when the hunt takes place so if the winner gets a license they can hit the stocked streams too. Maybe make a week trip out of it, have me show them around and then really go hard on the birds and fish.

If someone chooses to come in 14 vs 13 I will have my next bass boat by then as well :)
