Scouted Public Marsh 12/12/11

Unread postby BigHunt » Tue Dec 13, 2011 11:36 am

went out scouting today ...had the day off of work so i used it wisly...well ive been looking at some public land maps and i dug in and this is what i found ......i mostly traveled the trastion line of cattails and red brush, were ever there was little islands of trees theere was a land mass and thats where i found the beds in the transition line ...and found multiple beds relaly far back in the cattails...about an hour walk back  i found multiple buck beds i even kicked one up as i first went in all i seen was the tail end.....alot of the beds might be doe but for sure two or three of them is buck beds.. it was kind of scary i was on an island right next to this lake and as i would bounce up and down the whole island would jiggle and move like i was on a blanket of ground

Image

Image this is a buck bed for sure ...rub right in the bed no other beds around withtin 100 yards

Looking good BigHunt! :) Great time to scout right now while the sign is fresh and before it is covered with snow. Did you carry your bow just in case?

I prefer hip boots but sometimes have to use chest waders especially if I want to get away from other hunters.
Most are afraid of anything over knee deep it seems.

I don't think I have been in chest deep but waist deep is not uncommon. I buy the Cabela's brand rubber bottom top neoprene hip boots. Chest waders you probably want something breathable cause they can get pretty warm especially early season. If you get into this marsh hunting you will be fine with just hip boots. Unless you don't mind filling your knee boots up with water every once in awhile!
