Pole be gone!

Unread postby dan » Thu May 06, 2010 1:14 pm

While fishing for white bass today, I threw out a night crawler on the bottom and wedged the pole between boulders. I walked down a little ways to fetch something and Carol started yelling and when I got over there...
POLE BE GONE!
She said it started slamming on the rocks with a big fish tugging and she ran over there but before she got her hands on it... POLE BE GONE!
Tried snagging for it. But it was never seen again...

Or a bearded pike!

I added a poll... Curious as to how many others suffered from "POLE BE GONE!"
This was my 1st.

I've lost quite a few ice fishing rods, regular fishing poles I've lost a couple- all were pulled in by fish.

That story brings back memories. When I was a kid we used to fish carp and those big ones would just turn downstream and run off our lines. My brother just got a new musky rod and reel. I thought I'd fix those carp so I took his new pole down to the river. I got a bite and the carp dragged the pole right in! I jumped in after it and started feeling for it. I got lucky and the fish must have got off and I found the pole.

Lost one way back in my early 20's while catfishing - you should never leave your pole unattended while catfishing. Not even for 30 seconds. :(

 Thats pretty Dan! No I never have lost a pole.

But if you take a poll entitled, "Have you ever fallen out of the boat?" I got a couple good ones that I can tell you about!

I had a catfish take a pole right out of my boat! I was able to catch to line with another pole and I got it back but the fish was gone.

I never lost one, but one year ice fishing my Pops decides to leave a brand new spinning rod/reel in a hole unattended............a soaked and frozen arm to the shoulder and no pole was his lesson for the day!

Lost one in Canada, or should I say...broke the top end of it off while trying to un-snag my bait! Lost one off the hood of the truck, actually casted the top off the pole a few times and unable to reel it back in. Fishing pole donations are greatly appericiated

I drove over my favorite fly rod at Castle Rock Creek two years ago. Busted her right in half! Sent the reel into the company (Reddington) and they sent me a brand new one no charge.
Dan, do the white bass make it all the way up to Rome? I was over there the other day looking for 'em and never found 'em.
