Tim's Vernon County Slob

Unread postby tim » Fri Nov 18, 2011 1:14 pm

this is my vernon county wisconsin slob i killed on oct. 28. it was my 4th sit in this stand . i felt i had excellent entry/exit/wind to continue going back to this set so i took advantage of it. on this set i thought i had overdone it as it was 10:00 and hadnt seen a deer. i was standing facing the opposite direction contemplating passing a different slob a few days prior due to too small of opening and anlge of deer, wondering if i made the right decision, i felt i did then i heard something. i turned around and here he came . i couldnt believe he got in on me that quick he was 75yd at most and here he came from the opposite dierection as the slob a few days prior but same trail. i grabbed the bow and drew when he was about 35 yards he stopped at 28 yards with chest blocked by small trees only this time i took out liver as i couldnt pass again,he was completely level with me on the hill and perfectly broadside. at the shot i buried it in his liver were i aimed but no pass thru i was surprised no exit wound either. the buck ran up the hill milled around for a bit very slow then dissapeared. i thought he went down. i left after 45 min came back 6 hours later to only 20 feet of a blood trail. i searched till dark. to shorten this up i wanst able to find my deer til 2 days later, i stuck with it and was able to finally put my tag on him. what really sucked was i probably passed him 2 or 3 times the first night he made it about 200 yards at most. the deer spoiled which sucked as this was by far the biggest bodied deer i had ever taken. i still had to gut him to even think about moving him , i didnt have access to scale i would guess this deer to be 300 lbs as im not weak and this deer gave me fits moving with help .

Dandy buck for sure. Congratulations.
