Suggestions for late season decoy setup
So this weekend will be my last for turkey hunting due to other commitments. I have an area pegged with a few birds and I plan on scouting the area tonight to close in on them tomorrow. My question is being this late in the turkey season (after weeks of pressure on public land)what decoy recommendations do you guys have and how close should I attempt to set up to the roost (with a mainly full moon)? Some people have told me to use a hen and tom decoy while others have suggested just a hen or no decoy at all. I've done limited turkey hunting in the past with little success so any suggestions would be helpful.

Thanks guys. I do have two hens. I'll bring the tom but leave it in the truck. Hopefully I can post some pics in the kill thread after this weekend.

How close would you guys try to set up and how much calling would you do? I'm assuming you wouldn't recommend any gobbling if he is tired of fighting?

I know the season is over and I'm probably much more aggressive than most people you talk to. I like to get in early and get right up in their business. Within 50 yards if it's dark enough, but usually 75-100yds or as close as I can get depending on the terrain and subspecies I'm hunting. Later in the season I still go with a half strut jake and a breeder hen. later int he season, there's been a 2 or 3 times they haven't committed, but otherwise the boss will come running. I've had subordinates land 75 yards away and strut and walk the opposite direction eventually, but when the boss gets out into the field they come in and pull that same subordinate in right with him. DSD jake and upright hen down like a breeder has been my go to set up, occasionally will use just hens.
The hen got bred 4-5 times this spring. Here's a clip of a Tom on Goulds hunt this spring, he acted similar to how I've seen some of the late season easterns behave. Note as aggressive as early in the season, but still enough to get them in the decoys.
