New turkey hunter
Alright my daughter will be taking hunter safety next month and will get to go on the youth turkey hunt.I have never hunted turkeys before and really have no idea. I would like to give it a shot in the spring. What time period do you guys like? I would like to apply for a period when my odds are at their highest. I assume the earlier periods are better as they have not been hunted. But I don't want to apply for a time when the birds are not vocal yet. Any input?

Re: New turkey hunter
What state? I ask only because some states have youth specific seasons and many of them start at different times. Some start when birds are bunched up still (Kansas) where others are later.

I always hear the most gobbling and responsive birds third season here in South central Wi. Also the youth season is always the week before the regular season and your kid can hunt it with any time period tag.
