New WHITE turkey decoy!

Unread postby Singing Bridge » Tue Sep 18, 2012 3:52 pm

Last week I was driving home and saw a flock of snow geese in a small fallow field. They stayed for a couple of days, and I drive by this little field twice a day or more. I estimated there were about twenty snow geese in all.

Now here's the bizarre part... for the two days the snow geese were there turkeys piled into the field to be near the snows... toms, hens and birds seemingly coming from every direction. The white geese held the middle of the field and the turkeys surrounded them... they were heavily attracted to the white birds for whatever reason. There were at times more than a couple of dozen birds surrounding the geese, including some very nice toms.

There were no turkeys in the field prior to the arrival of the snow geese, and as soon as they left so did the turkeys. It was too much of a coincidence, there seemed to be a VERY STRONG attraction for the turkeys to be near the white birds. I have watched Canadian geese in the field before... and no turkeys showed.

I might have to try some snow goose decoys the next time I go turkey hunting!

Worth a try, especially in that field.

It was different, they sure seemed to be attracted to them.

It was so convincing, I am going to have to try it- snow geese decoys for turkey hunting! It'll be next spring before I give it a go. Who knows, maybe I can talk other Beasts into trying it too... Uncle Lou? ACK? Anyone else?

If it works, remember you heard it here FIRST, on the Beast!

Very Crazy- that's what I like about it. We need it on video, with snowgeese decoys and a snowgoose call in case that weird honking really was icing on the cake... way cool! 8-)

Hey Carol, can we use Donnie the Duck for a decoy??? He's got a lot of white on em!
