5 YEAR OLDS FIRST TURKEY HUNT
Yesterday was the opener here in michigan. The kids had school so i went out with a buddy and got set up before first light. We had 4 jakes fall in love with my new DSD hen decoy, they stayed for at least a half hour, closer to 45 minutes. The biggest bird had about a 3 inch beard. Didnt find anything else the rest of the day. So now this morning sissy had school and my little hunting buddy was woke up at 5:30. He fought it a little but once he figured out we were going turkey hunting he was all in. We got to the spot about 6:00 and i began hauling the blind, decoy, his little 20 guage, video camera, calls, seat for blind and on and on. Now dad is sweating and the birds were roosted in a little different spot. finally i hear one gobble way off and figure he is on his way. They werent very talkative and i waited quite awhile to call. when i do let out a few soft yelps, three of them sound off at about 25 yards. I cant really explain the look on his face, kinda like when you find a 20 wrinkled up in your pants pocked from who knows when. Then all i can feel in the blind is the quivering coming from his right leg. It was priceless! I didnt have a tripod so didnt get much footage, and long story short they never came all the way in to the decoy where he could get a good shot. I was really bummed out for him but i know for sure he is hooked for life!

Cool.
You can fool some of the bucks, all of the time, and fool all of the bucks, some of the time, however you certainly can't fool all of the bucks, all of the time.

Its not about the kill... Not getting one will make it all that much sweeter when he does.

Even if you dont get a kill, you can still have a very good time just listening to the turkeys gobble. Better luck next time for you and your little hunting buddy.
