Dan vs bear - Minnesota

Unread postby dan » Mon Jul 19, 2021 11:07 pm

It sure Was nice getting up to far Northern Minnesota scouting for bears... No phone Service, no distractions, just a couple guys wandering the backwoods looking for sign, and breathing the clean air... found tracks, scat, and trails, and was pleasently surprised to see sign that bears are still visiting the spots I baited 4 years ago... Hate going back to work this morning...

It’s been pretty dry in mn this year. I’d imagine bait sites will have less natural food competition. It should be a great bear season. I can’t wait.

Tje lakes and rivers were really low, and we found a few blue berrys, but most were died up... there is also a campfire ban

Dan, obviously I won't ask for a specific location, but are you in the boundary waters area of MN? Just curious, as I have been thinking of heading to boundary waters for a bow hunt sometime.

its been 5 years since I last hunted Minnesota... I have always been fascinated how the same bears Show up on the cameras that were there several years earlier in the same spots, but dont visit another bait thats only a 1/2 mile away. I was pleasantly surprised to see the majority of my old bait sites still getting marked and visited by bears after all these years...

That's cool. I only ever hunted bear once. We were ground hunting, it was a beautiful autum day, about 65 degrees, on this little sunny point and the man said, "keep your eyes open I'm going to take a nap...."
