Re: MN Bear Results
I also drew my MN Bear tag and will be hunting near Dan. I didn’t realize I had 8 points, very excited.

Will be interested to hear what the tag quotas are. They must have upped them substantially.

Did you hear the rumor that you can use 55 gal barrels on public now in MN?!
Good luck

Oh
Look at the bright side at least you don’t have to put it in a stupid log and can put out more than a couple buckets

Re: MN Bear Results
You can use a barrel it doesn't have to be 55-gallons.

Re: MN Bear Results
55 gallon barrel, its not for me, it’s my preference, I don’t care if anyone else uses them and I support them as hunters, my first impression when I went to Canada bear hunting in those pristine areas it looked trashy, don’t get me wrong I understand why it’s done etc. Me personally I like it to be as natural as possible and if there was opportunities in Wisconsin to stalk bears like Jim Shockey does I would be doing that instead of sitting over a bait station, but a bait station without barrels is about as close and natural as you can get here in WI. I will not be hunting over a barrel this year in Minnesota

I know exactly what you mean I have seen outfitters that have junk all around and buckets hanging in the trees, etc. Looks like you're hunting in a dump. There are several advantages to using barrels and I do use them, but the barrel and a camera is all you'll see at my bait sites, not even a rag hanging in a tree.
