Why no beans yet?

Unread postby mheichelbech » Mon Jun 16, 2014 2:19 am

I have only seen 1 ag field with beans growing so far. Corn has been planted all over but the fields that would normally get beans do not appear to have been planted yet??? Any idea why this would be? Even seeing that winter wheat hasn't even been cut in some areas.

Any idea when I would know if they just weren't gonna plant this season?

I would have thought you had enough good weather to get the beans planted. Corn normally does get planted first as it needs a longer growing season.

The corn is four feet tall in Arkansas. What few beans I have seen are not but about a foot high. Everybody is planting corn right now. Because it is selling good. Want be long an corn will bottom out.

Just starting to get the beans in around here. Been a late spring. Neighbor farmer told me its been too wet to get his beans in last week or so. They go late beans around here anyway though - following the wheat.
