As most of you are starting to work up and plant your plots, here is an interesting planting I have been adding to some of my food plots for the last 3 years. It's a food plot screen. I have taken a 7 acre alfalfa field and screened a corner of it and dramatically increased the daytime use because the deer went from a 7 acre field to a 2 acre field. I also use this screening to create 20 foot wide travel corridors connecting woodlot to woodlot trough a farm field. It works great. If you have a poaching problem on your property, imagine planting a 10 to 12 foot high "wall" to hide your field.
Our Food Plot Screen is Egyptian Wheat, and works great. If planted in late May to Mid June, it can get 10 to 12 feet tall. Last year in NE Wisconsin, I got 12 feet in height even in the drought. I even planted a 1/4 acre bedding area that the deer used with this.
