Anyone scout waterfowl areas where they flood the woods and fields for waterfowl ?

You can scout an area and then in Sept and they will flood it. Goodbye beds, or its now inaccessible unless by boat. Available rain during the flooding stage dictates every year when and if certain areas are any good. Waterfowl hunter like to see water height up high enough so that geese can reach the corn. Sometimes they fall short and the available hunt-able acreage increases .

Flooded timber with some elevation involved can hold some monsters. The largest rub I have ever seen, which came up to my neck (I'm 5'11) was found just off of a swamp bottom. Not too many guys hunt in swamps, the sediment provides nutrients to the native forage and the swamp can provide some great hidey holes
The hardest part is accessing the area without spooking the deer.. or ducks.. Thermals work a lot differently with water nearby and wearing or carrying waders in September can be rough.
