Waterfowl and Buck Beds.

I was out prepping some trees today in the swamps. There were two different beds that I have scouted and were prepping trees to hunt them this fall. I checked each bed once I got into the area to verify once again that, this was the exact set up I wanted. Well today, both of these beds had geese laying in them. They were pretty instant on not leaving them too. Possibly nesting? These are buck beds that are mainly used during summer and fall.
Just curious if any others have noticed this type of thing around this time of the year?

Sounds like a good spot to make a nest... I usually see geese nesting on top of muskrat dens, but if none are around and the buck bed is dry I could see that...

Wow that is very interesting. Geese can be very territorial. I could see them making noise and posturing enough to drive the bucks away for a few months until the goslings hatch. I would think by late summer the geese would be gone and the bucks would be back in there. Please give us an update after the season the starts. I'm curious about how it turns out. Good luck!

Neat observation.
I spotted a roadside goose on a bed and it is sitting on a high spot. Very small high spot, a buck might not be able to lay his head down. Knowledge of areas and how animals use them year round can be the advantage needed. I'm not expecting the goose bed I saw to EVER hold a deer but tying it back to elevation and deer behavior is cool.

This bed is on some high ground just inside the cattails. By the looks of it, the bed has some competition for use. Has 4-5 rubs right at the bed. When I think about, a buck bed and a goose nest are exactly the same scenario in a swamp or marsh. High ground and used for safety.
