Bed Cell Cam

Unread postby purebowhunting » Fri Aug 07, 2015 3:01 pm

Put a cell trail camera over a bed this afternoon, it's a bed I scouted this past spring. Below is a picture of the bed taken this afternoon.
Image
There are actually two used beds approx 15 yards apart, this one looks to be used more and has more buck sign in it from last fall. I believe these are seasonal beds, it's in a tamrack swamp with corn to the north and south and oaks to the east. We'll see how much it's used and if they'll tolerate the camera, I have never hunted the area so have limited idea of deer density or buck caliber, hope this isn't a waste of time. I'll try to post all deer pics I get. Below is a map of the setup. Red is setup and planned entry through corn, yellow are beds and blue is camera.

It's raining now and more rain expected tomorrow so hope some scent gets washed away. I wish I had the pics from this spring because there were about a dozen rubs leaving this bed, unfortunately I smashed my phone and lost all pics. This I think will mainly be used when corn and white oaks are the main draw, we'll see.

Looks like a perfect place for a cell cam. I am looking forward to the pictures as well.

Two days in and so far no pics, there were fresh dropping on the trail leading from the bed when I set up the camera so may just be spooked from the scent. The bed will be most effective for the buck with a west or northwest or north wind and we've had east and southeast so hopefully activity will change.

First buck showed up this morning, looks like a 2 yo 6 point. Unfortunately it was a foggy morning. There is a bed that is left of the tree that was less used, it was too thick to setup the camera to see both, looks like he may have opted to bed there.

Very interested keep us posted.
