Late season rubs

Unread postby SOUTHJERSEYSLAYER » Tue Dec 23, 2014 2:52 pm

I was scouting the other day for some new spots for winter bow and came across a cluster of 5 fresh rubs. Two were on pretty big cedar trees and every single rub was fresh. They were just outside of a thicket and I pulled out cause I didnt want booger the place up any more. Are big fresh rubs common this late in the season? I dint find any beds near the rubs but I didnt go into the thickett to check for beds either. Would you guys set up on these rubs or do you think they were probobly made at night? Winter bow opens up on january 1 so maybe I will push in a little further and set up and give it a shot. Ive never seen rubs this big and fresh this late in the season before. Any speculation why hes rubbing like this so late?

I beleive Dan has stated before with a similar question from another, that deer will rub up until their antlers fall off. I know personally I've found rubs in MN that were made in early March.
