I did a walk about yesterday in a new area that looks magnificent!
Probably a bit of a wintering area so I will have to spend some spring time scouting as well...
I found this little area by chance during hunting season by almost hitting a Spike w/my truck while trying to cross the road.
Once I left where I parked the vehicle, just west of the red line @ the North end, I immediately hit a nice deer run!
The woods itself contains a mix of hardwoods, softwoods, brushy and lowland style water pockets with slivers between them.
The topo doesn't do much in elevation changes but I can attest with the amount of sign like tracks & droppings it looks promising.
I need to spend more time south and west of the bottom "trail2" marking too...

Is that surrounded by subdivisions? On a map like you posted I would just get in there and follow the sign to see if anything tripped my trigger. I'm not much help I guess . How many acres?

Yes it urban hunting @ it's finest...
It encompasses about 70 acres in the meat of the land excluding the house lots.

Re: Confusing property - Any suggestions?
Ed,
I would walk all the transitions. I would look for over looked spots where people don't venture much. A little lot off a back yard sometimes holds the biggest bucks. Its usually the yard where no one goes out into the wooded area much, and the woods is separated by the bigger woods by field or water...
Anywho, I marked up a map for you marking the main transitions I would expect buck bedding on. Its a lot of walking, but thats the path I would take.

Thanks Dan - It's pleasing to start seeing and picking many of the areas you selected - a little reassurance...
