Saw 17 deer on this glassing venture. First deer to the field was a nice 8 point. Another nice 8 point (same buck as the other night) came out about 15 minutes later. The deer on the far left is the first buck (deer) into the field. There was a scrub buck in the field also. The other nice 8 point is to the right of the big tree in between the big tree and the small tree. Hard to see anything with my phone camera and low light. Better than no picture though. I was hoping to lay eyes on Freako but no luck so far. Freako was living and bedding to the North and West of this field. I am facing East in this picture and all the deer came from the east.
This is Freako:
Did some more glassing, took a picture this time.

You can fool some of the bucks, all of the time, and fool all of the bucks, some of the time, however you certainly can't fool all of the bucks, all of the time.

I wouldn't doubt it if Freako has that wide beam broke off by now.

I would say Iowa is better. I have never hunted NH though. This time of year can be very good and very bad. When the deer are yarded up that means there are many places they are not. The property you are hunting may be completely void of deer. In this area the gun season ended last weekend. There were 5 gun hunters hunting this area for 2 weeks. They would walk right through this field into the area the deer were bedding. They never hunted this field and the way they hunted, the deer never came into the field. They paid no attention to wind direction, they just dove in and hunted. Out of the 5 gun hunters they got 2 scrub bucks and 2 does. If they had a camera they could not have gotten pictures of deer in the fields. The animals in this zoo were in their cages during gun season. LOL

Stan - I love to hear you deer methodologies... It makes me wonder if you've forgotten more than I'll ever know
Although I do know about wind - sort of.
[glow=red]Good post - keep them coming![/glow]
Let me know if you need a camera man for a long weekend
