A Couple of Creek Spots

Unread postby JakeJD » Wed Dec 14, 2011 2:30 am

Here are a couple of creek spots that I am thinking about scouting this winter for next year. What do you guys think? I am mainly a flat-lander, but I have Dan's Hill Country DVD and I thought maybe this would be worth a look.

I have hunted turkeys out here and there is not much for cover anywhere. It seems that everything that is not crops get pastured pretty good by cows.

Thanks, Jake

Looks like a really good rut property. Anywhere the cover pinches the deer down to one spot would be the way to go.

spots liike these can either be incredilble or terrible depending onhow much pressure they get. If not much there is a few great spots on each, I would say worth a drive during season or just after to see how much it looks like they get hunted. It won't take long to figure out what they are because each place only has a few good places to bother checking out, where woods pinches down by bigger spots of woods.

Thanks for the replies guys. I am used to hunting flat river bottom wasteland and public WMA (marshes / upland areas).

Pinch points (funnels) like these?

I walked quite a bit of both properties turkey hunting in May last year. I don't remember seeing much of any rut sign or tracks. What am I looking for? Tracks, rubs, scrapes, general deer sign along with other hunter sign?

Thanks, Jake
