I had to stop eating Mexican Food to type. Nice Crappie or what do they call them down there?

I'm reason they call it hunting and not shooting.

I don’t like to keep those big ones but this one swallowed my jig. I released her but she kept coming back up on her side. Figured I would rather eat her than leaving her for turtle bait. Usually just snap a hero shot of the big females and send them on there way.

In that case you don’t have a choice if they won’t swim away.

I once saw a guy catch a 10 lb walleye. Around here that’s a trophy and figured the guy was gonna mount it. Heck no he filleted it up and ate it.

Years ago me and a buddy found a 29” walleye floating belly up. Tried to revive it to no avail. Guy was fishing off his dock nearby and said he’d take it.

“I’m gonna go tell my wife I caught it!!”

They don’t taste bad (I’ve kept mid 20’s before) you just have to cube them up or strip them so you’re not trying taking a bite out of a 2” thick filet.

Those stories crack me up. Believe it was the World record Bass that the old man who caught it ate it.

I caught about a 20 lb catfish while crappie fishing not to many years ago. Only reason I got it was cause it ran up in the shallow grass and I jumped on it. There was 2 kids fishing right there with zebco 33s. I asked if they wanted it. They took off with the sucker. Can only imagine the story they came up with.

I caught a Striper 5 or 6 years ago one summer. Sucker was 3 ft long with a huge head an eyes. But the body was just skin an bone. Looked like a tarpon! He didn’t even fight, just felt like pulling in a log. Something bad wrong with that fish. I let him loose only cause I was scared to eat him.

Was to dang windy for bowfishing so I opted for plan B. Catfishing! After a hard spring of beating the bushes for crappie. It sure felt nice to sit on my rear and watch a cork. Eventful day. Back to work for me

I didn't have time to hunt this evening but there was time for a quick fishing trip with the kids.

Caught a 2.5 lb walleye, and a small pike.

Caught my biggest walleye so far, 4 lbs, 25"

Found a spot a mile from my house so I can just run down after sunset and catch a few in 20 minutes or so.

I had a couple different friends posting pics of fish. One had a limit of walleyes. Said he hammered them and was the only boat on the lake. In fact he ran out of bait :?
