I have been fishing Lake Winnebago and have a tough time consistently getting walleyes. The lake does have some structure features but they are very subtle so depth will change very, very slowly. I know ice fishing guys say you have to move if no fish on locator in 15-minutes but they are moving like a quarter mile or more at a time. I understand moving around part but how far do you move each time since theoretically you could be 50-feet from the edge of a school. How do you guys attack a lake like this?
Thanks,
John

When I fished it with my dad we troll usally you cover more ground that way. Then when we hit a couple of fish we would circle back and go threw that spot again.I have heard to the wind helps to to pick what side of the lake to fish. So if a west wind is blowing for a couple of days it will push them up on the east shore. I'm not an expert, But that's what I have experienced.

If the wind is blowing, fish structure. 6 to 10 ft rock humps. You can pitch jigs or slip bobbers. If it's calm fish the mud basin. Basically anything over 15 ft deep. Troll planer boards with either spinners or cranks. Put out a variety of colors and run different depths till you find what the fish want. Fishing will get real good around the end of this month!
