I get jealous of all the public out west. Southeast nebraska a big piece is 500 acres. It's almost 6 hours to Valentine.

Good luck out there! I've only hunted turkeys in the sandhills region a couple times. Very interesting country!

What town in nebraska are you in? My base camp for turkey season is about an hour NNW of Lincoln in a small town called Linwood.

I would take 6 hrs that is better then my 16 hour drive or my 13 hour drive to my place in MN.

Yes that one was from last year, I did a solo rifle hunt. Pack him and a doe out 1.6 miles.

That's cool. Beautiful buck. Is rifle season there as bad as everyone says? Tons of people or not that bad. Can't be as bad as Michigan but I guess you never know what a persons perspective of alot of people are and what they are used to. Seemed like we had the whole place to ourselves last year. Only saw one other vehicle in the refuge that looked like someone hunting. I may try a rifle or muzzleloader hunt out there in the future.

Be on the road in about 12 hours after I get done with this night shift. Can't wait, be hunting by Friday afternoon.

Agreed, good luck! I have been struggling to not just point the truck out to the west end of the state. Most of the public I hunt in eastern ne is less than 200 acres. Post pictures!

Yeah I know around Merritt reservoir where I stay, there is a driveway a couple miles north up the hill that everyone uses as a pull off so they can get service. It's so bad that John who runs the trading post actually makes it a point to tell people where the spots to get reception within ten miles of the lake are.
