Cal Topo - Slope Angle Shading

Unread postby MN_DeerHunter » Wed Oct 25, 2017 1:37 pm

Fellas,

Im doing a little map work tonight on cal topo and am wondering if red areas when looking at slope angle shading are walkable? I'm trying to get an idea of how steep these areas really are before get there on foot later this week.

Thanks

I think it can work for that. I usally us the shading for pin pointing steep areas to focus in on for bedding but i would think what your doing would be possible but one thing that would help you is, how steep would you call steep to walk on. That would be the trick!

Red is walkable, but you will be grabbing saplings to support you along the way. For me red = down falls, loose soil, rocks and sweat.
