Re: Kentucky public
Nobody mentioned the few I am eyeballing. Maybe good, maybe bad...
Anyone know what the acorn crop is like this year?

I haven't seen enough to know on the acorn drop this year but I have noticed the persimmon trees are loaded

Seems like there will be several Beasts there for that weekend. We need to get together for a handshake anyway.

I'm not certain how much of a "beast" capacity I am going to have. I have my two brothers and two cousins that I have talked into doing this public land hunt with me for their first ever public land hunts, so I am going to be pretty busy trying to get them some decent spots where they will see more deer. Which means any other beasts hunting in the area your spot will be safe as I will be putting them on edges and easy to access funnels. I'm really hoping they enjoy themselves and the challenge of it as I would love to add a weekend of public to the end of my farm rut hunts every year at some public land in the KY.

There is one I won't mention. Most people don't ever notice it.

I'm planning on heading to KY this year and I'm not seeing many of the WMA's mentioned that I've researched. I was looking for overlooked areas--hopefully that is the case!

Reds seem to have made fair to poor. Maybe 1/3 or less of trees are bearing.
White oaks are poor to non existent.
Persimmons seem to be loaded up.
I'm new to this forum but live in and hunt public ground in central Ky.
Take someone hunting or fishing.

Hunted Fort Knox last evening. Lots of white oaks in the area I hunted, but no acorns. Didn't see one squirrel the entire evening. Saw three does, mainly browsing on Crownvetch.
