Thanks, took 17 miles to find this group of bucks there were 3 of them together all about the same size. Then two more crossed right after I shot this one. So it was a good morning. We are set up again tonight see if they come back through going out to ag see if the buddy can get a crack at the other 4. If not will drive into another piece tomorrow let this spot cool off for a couple days.

I was about a mile from one of access points. So not terrible. Was having a great trip, dad hit four horses on the highway in the dark going to a hunting spot. Totalled my truck. He is ok so that is good. Making it interesting getting home though.

Few pics from the trip. My dad ended up getting a small 7 on the last day we hunted, my buddy hit one and we didn't find it. While looking for his deer I was walking super slow through a bottom next to a marsh and a massive 10 walked by me at 20 feet his beams were the the size of beer cans. I would guess he was in the 170 range just had to watch in awww as I had already filled my tag so no bow with me. Was pretty cool though.

Re: T minus one month leaving for Nebraska Sandhills
I guess I got some spare time driving home. So I will tell my buck story. We were checking a new area out I had never been in. The first day in I walked a entire creek bottom from the top side of park back to the river looking for good deer sign. Only saw 4 deer was really disappointed ended up walking 12 miles that day taking breaks everyonce in a while glassing large tracks of bottom trying to find deer.
Second day my hunting buddy had to work and could get a internet signal there. So I said I would walk one more creek bottom since we were in the area so I started right at first light worked my way down to river then slowly started working my way up the creek. Wasn't super impressed with sign but kept going had nothing else to do that day. After about two hours I ran into 2 does on their feet and blew them out of the bottom. So I looked at the maps and decided to get out of bottom and circle around to spot where some other terrain comes together. I found a good side hill trail and followed it up. I got just about to the point where I was going to drop back in and just started to crest the ridge and saw a buck standing below me. So I got down real quick dropped my pack and started watching. Ended up being 3 bucks below me. I was waiting for them to bed so I could make a move. Then the biggest buck in the group came straight up the hill at me shot him at 20 yards. Went 30 yards and tipped over. Then two more bucks I didn't know were there ran past on the other hill side.
Was a awesome trip besides the truck getting totalled. Saw over 200 deer in all the places we went and probably saw over 50 bucks with 3 really nice ones. I kicked a really nice one off a river bank the first day. Kicked a really nice one out of a woodlot walking around. Then had a tank walk by me at 20 feet looking for the one my buddy hit. Be going back next year and gonna be more picky. Good luck out there guys.
On a side note single bevels cutthroats really do a number on a deer.

Re: T minus one month leaving for Nebraska Sandhills
Leaving Thursday for Nebraska again. Bringing the kayaks along this year. Gonna try out a few new spots by water should be fun. There were a few spots we were really trying to get to that were about 6 miles in but going by water will cut that to about a 1.5. Excited to see what is there. Always pumped for this trip since Mi doesn't open till October first time I get to hunt for the year.
I was out there the end of July when we went to south Dakota on vacation. Stopped in valentine for 3 nights with the family. Did a bunch of driving around just to see where the cattle were in pasture and what not. So should have a pretty good idea where to start when we get there. See what the wind is and will be hunting Friday afternoon. Hopefully we can keep the truck in one piece this year.
