My Kentucky hunt delayed.
I was planning on heading to Kentucky for in the morning opener. My vehicle has been acting weird pulling hard to right then corrects itself back left.
Will probably spend tomorrow replacing left front control arm and bushing. I've replaced the right side but never have had the left replaced in 170k miles.
It's pulling bad enough right now I don't feel safe on the interstate or going over 45 with it. I'm sure i could go 45mph but I'd spend 2 days getting to eastern KY.
If for some reason I can't get it fixed I may baby it on backroads early next week to hunt Western KY.
Hopefully I get it fixed this weekend.

Re: My Kentucky hunt delayed.
I have a similar issue. Heading to Kentucky on Sunday and planned on taking my personal vehicle which is an f150. Work truck is a diesel f250 so it looks like I’ll be taking that. Extra $200 in fuel no fun.

Re: My Kentucky hunt delayed.
Bought lower control arm full assembly with built in bushing and ball joint. Not sure what is acting up so figured I'd replace it all at once. It's way to much work taking it all apart and only fixing one thing. Took the more expensive route and just replaced it all.
Luckily for a suv it wasn't that expensive 170.00 from Napa and their car components are decent. Will probably take me a few hours tom afternoon or Sunday morning. Spent over a hour digging out all the tools this afternoon.
A shop quoted me like 640.00 . Just takes me a few hours labor and getting all the tools out. It's not that hard to change out on a Suv. Really crazy how much car shops charge in labor over half the quoted price was labor.

Re: My Kentucky hunt delayed.
Working on the car this morning.
A bolt on the lower control arm snapped in half.THats why car was yanking so bad. So glad I took this apart it was extremely dangerous and wouldn't have gone much further till it completely broke off the other 3 bolts. They were so damaged went snd bought all new bolts and nuts from tractor supply just to be safe.
Had to install new bushing ,and control arm. And ball joint.
Was a pain to get off the old parts had to buy a breaker bar too get them off with half a can of wd40. Took a special size 21mm socket and wrench. Still did the job after buying all the tools for less then half of what a shop would have charged me . Plus I now have the tools forever.
I'm almost done took a few hours but wasn't too bad.
Hoping to head to Kentucky soon.

Re: My Kentucky hunt delayed.
Hope it all pays off with a great hunt in KY!
I go back and forth between doing my own work abd paying shops because i hate working on vehicles and paying for labor equally. It’s an internal struggle every time i noticed something needs to be fixed.

Re: My Kentucky hunt delayed.
Car is still acting strange even though I replaced a broken lower control arm . Hopefully I can get it sorted out soon. Mine having 170k miles and starting to fall apart needing alot of matience over the last year , honestly I probably should've just traded it in by now being a old 2015. This is several issues in a row with it.
Will wait until September 13th to go to KY. Even if I did leave now id be back by September 10th.
With the Afganistan issues being out of state on the 20 year anniversary of 2001 with a weak incompetent leader in charge is probably not a smart idea. Going to be at home the 10th through the 12th and not leaving the house. Hopefully nothing occurs but ive had a bad feeling since the pullout of Afghanistan and us arming a enemy with modern technology. With our open borders definitely going to stay on the side of caution and avoid big cities for a bit until the anniversary is over.
Our govorment.have created the potential for a perfect storm as of late due to their ignorance. Hopefully it all passes without issue. I don't want to be 500 miles from home if a major event occurs.
