Re: Whats your opening day plan?
I’m going to sit over a bed that I kicked a nice buck out of opening day last year, not sure if he is still alive but it’s worth a sit. Last year there was beans across the road, so we will see if the corn changes anything. I doubt it as this bed is not really positioned for food, it’s more for safety. Going to have to get in early.

Mine would be sept 18
Have a few areas picked out - wind based
First year archery hunting with the boy
There’s a doe area that’s pretty consistent.
If then wind is right we’ll have him go in.

Re: Whats your opening day plan?
I actually plan to hit the best spot I found all year scouting which of course is also the most ambitious spot. It is 2 miles through wet and thick and nasty. I’m looking to hop right in and get the season going! I don’t have a camera hung in this specific spot because I didn’t want to throw anything off, but no doubt a 4 year old or better in this area. Plan to hunt it 3 times this season.

Re: Whats your opening day plan?
It is 20 days from our opener here in MO. I have 4 public spots that I'm considering for opening day, and I'll be trying to get some intel during that time to determine where I'll be opening day.

Im going to an archery only area close to my house and hopefully put some meat in the freezer. The Place is over ran with doe so ive got a few wind based spots i feel fairly comfortable with.

Re: Whats your opening day plan?
Hunting a piece of KY public I'm pretty intimate with. The past 2 seasons the pressure has been insane. Getting in the tree 2 hours before light. Setting up adjacent to bedding, just off a micro saddle that doesn't show up on topos. Pressure or bedding should put me in the action.
1 hunt, then back to the kitchen remodel. Straight torture for the next 4 weeks.

I’ll be working til 11:00am, but then immediately going to an area I really want to get deep into before anyone else hopefully does the same. I have a plan B and a potential plan C if I am beat to the punch though.

I'm going kill a deer on public land with my bow.
Surprisingly.... that is also my plan! Took the whole week off just in case though!

Re: Whats your opening day plan?
Opening day is a Friday, so I'll probably be at work. At that point in the season, not worth burning a vacation day. I can wait until Saturday to do a hunt if I care to. Early season, I usually watch for a weather front coming through and select a stand based on how I think it will impact deer movement. So far, for some reason, there seems to be very few mosquitoes this year, almost an absence, so that will increase the odds of me hunting early.

I’ll be getting cards from cams I have out shortly. That intel plus the weather conditions/wind for that day will dictate where I end up. Our opener is October 2nd this year.

Re: Whats your opening day plan?
MY opening day I decide to hunt where 2 pine transitions and hardwood bottom edge met a creek. Walked to the spot I had on onyx. Went to climb the tree i had marked. I heard a whistle and another hunter was sitting 15 yards from my onyx point..the very next hunting tree.
We both were shocked to see each other like 800 yards from a road.
Since he was their before me I left and ran over to a backup spot. Definitely not how I imagined my opening day going.

Me too. That’s always my thinking. If it doesn’t happen tomorrows the day. Gotta think that way otherwise why are we even out there?

Re: Whats your opening day plan?
Hope for rain the day before the opener. Check the wind, find the big fresh tracks, kill the buck.
