2021 days to hunt
Ya I’m going to be that guy already. Things at work are changing and I have to put in for vacation sooner than later this year.
So give me your 2021 predictions on what days to be in the woods this year? Throw it all out there! Weather, moon, rut, pre rut, early season, intel, lucky 8 ball whatever you think is the hot ticket this year. Give me your best Babe Ruth and tell me when to point the bat and why.

Re: 2021 days to hunt
Oct 28th-Nov 7. Then Thanksgiving week. Specifically Thanksgiving day and Black friday. Mainly because the last few days of October seem to heat up and less pressure than once November hits. First week of November due to recency bias. But annually that 3rd and 4th week of November is my favorite for mature bucks and usually the towel is already thrown in by most others.

What state region? Midwest I'd say October 30th- November 7th. But for areas I hunt here in AR, last week of November, first of December is the time to be in the woods.

Where I hunt it is last week or October and first week of November for best rut hunting.
Otherwise, the first guy (usually local lease holder) to a given stand gets the biggest buck in that area.

Re: 2021 days to hunt
Wednesday, October 27th before 10:30 a.m. It will be relatively quiet on Public, and the bucks will be in full-blown pre-rut mode. I know of a large communal doe bedding area next to a pinch point that have bucks coming and going all night and early morning. Southern Ohio.
On my deathbed, I will receive total consciousness. So I have that going for me, which is nice!

Can NEVER go wrong with the first 10 days of Nov. Killer time of year no matter the weather, moon phase, etc.

Midwest so those days only partially work for me!
To quote someone close to me “you never really know where he is” That is unless you are a shipping manager for beast gear lol
I am mainly trying to strike up a thread on when and why you would choose a day to hunt far in advance so I can have something to over think about. Doesn’t really even need to coincide with rut

Re: 2021 days to hunt
If I got a week straight to hunt plus some scouting adventures in the summer...I would choose September if on public/shared land but if you have sole access or low pressure hard to beat the 2nd week of November

Mid October to Thanksgiving in November. Look for cooler weather over and under moon times. If I was going narrow it down even more. Last two weeks in October thru first two weeks of November.
I'm reason they call it hunting and not shooting.

That is when it finally starts cooling down around here.

Re: 2021 days to hunt
Depends where you are. If your in the Midwest it’s a good idea to spend as much time on stand as you can from Oct 31-Nov 10 for the peak action.
Also don’t overlook the first week of the season. That could actually be your highest odds for a buck you have patterned.

Agree with Dewey! If not then I would go for Nov 15-20 for the last bit of heavy crusing. Shot a P&Y last year on the 17th on Public and was close on a bigger one two days before. Seems like the big boys really push hard at the beginning and end of the rut here in Ohio.
