My first bump and dump

Unread postby bass28 » Fri Jan 08, 2021 7:49 am

I got what I would consider my first bump and dump this year.

During a midday scouting hike, I jumped a nice PA 8 point. After the initial jump he got curious and started working his way back toward me. We had a staring contest for about 10 minutes before he worked off in the opposite direction. The next morning I setup in that same bedding area. Mid-morning a spike and the 8 point worked their way toward my stand. Both bucks bedding around my tree just off wind. The 8 point was about 5 yard from the base of my tree but presented no shot. After a 90 minute nap, they stretched and started working away. I was able to get a shot on the 8 point and he made some mighty fine jerky!

I cannot remember every trying this before I found the beast. I have been following Dan since 2016 and this is just one of the fruits of the knowledge I have picked up. Thanks for the info guys!

Great job!

I had that happen once, knew about BAD, but didn’t listen to my gut and kept going. I learned the hard way how curious they are if they don’t get a solid visual or a nose full.

Gotta love the bump and dump! Very effective. Congrats!
On my deathbed, I will receive total consciousness. So I have that going for me, which is nice!
