I’m out in Maryland for the first sit all year. Ive been out since 11:30 scouting. I found a pretty good looking area with some sign. Bad thing is acorns are absolutely everywhere so its hard to narrow them down. Second bad thing is on my way in i got snorted at right at the base of the tree I’m set up in. Hopefully it’s still early enough and things calm down before prime time. The Deer sounded heavy when it hopped away. I’ll gladly take a big slick head tonight if given the opportunity. Feels good to be out!!

Good luck Djp!

I’m observing tonight, waiting on my #1 hit list buck. Been here about an hour, no deer seen yet. Gonna shine afterwards.

Doe and a fawn was it. Then a doe in the headlights on the way out.

No good tonight, the deer that blew must have been the only one around. O well more scouting to do tomorrow.

Went elk hunting...no elk. Saw 2 muley does, a coyote, and an elk shed at the bottom of a huge cliff. It's still there lol.

Productive night of shining. Numbers were far fewer than normal, but I did finally re-locate my #2 buck. The bad news is he moved  I’m thinking some pre-season scouters have him pushed out of his public bedding and he’s out in some private fence rows or standing corn. He’s about a mile from where he was.

At the tail end of shining hours I raced back to the observation property I was at that evening. I shined one decent 100-110” buck and two unknowns. I get the feeling they were all bucks because the unknowns didn’t stick around. Does will usually hang for a bit. Those deer wanted none of it.

I’m hoping to observe Friday. Season opens Saturday.

Got to full draw on a smaller antelope buck this morning spot and stalk at 45 yards. I was just putting pressure on release when he bolted. This was my first REALLY good opportunity at an antelope this season. Stings a little haha. Oh well, ill just have to get the next one.

KillEatRepeat wrote:Lmao. Playing around on the phone trying to get a picture from the stand uploaded, two decent sized bucks snuck up on me at about 30 yards away. When I finally noticed them, one was already stomping at me. So as quickly as silently as I could, I stuck the phone in my pocket so I could pick up the bow. Wasn't quiet enough, and the stomper bolted and the other one followed.

Luckily for me (unluckily for one of them), they only ran about 30 yards but stayed at the same distance from me. The first one was still hype alert, so I decided to take a shot at the second one. Looked like a clean shot near the upper front shoulder, but that shot of adrenaline from the buck fever had me shaking like I had cerebral palsy. I'll give it about an hour before climbing down to assess the damage.

Dude that's not cool.

Good luck finding your buck.
