River bottom in hill country

Unread postby BuffaloNYhunter » Sat Jul 18, 2020 10:12 pm

I could use some tips here
The set up is a large piece of public land that runs both to south
Large river in the bottom. Probably on average 1000 feet below the road hunter park on. The private ag fields are on top then hardwoods some thick stuff . River on the bottom
The deer seem to come to the ag fields on top then move there way to the bottom for bedding
Hunter pressure bumps them off the upper third of the hill and that is the leeward side too

What areas do deer bed/ travel in the bottoms?

I'm not an expert. But check the oxbows. They form sort of a point. Also, be aware that the river will affect the thermals. I'd be willing to bet that they are in the opposite side of where the pressure is, especially if there's no easy way for hunters to cross it. Can you go in via canoe?
Twigs in my hair, don't care.

Can’t access by canoe
Unless I want to drag it down 1000 feet of elevation
What I can do is drop down 1/4 mile downwind of the bend or oxbow and come up along the river bank
